3 juvenile prisoners released on bail

LARKANA, Oct 21: Three juvenile prisoners, Zohaib, Raheel and Parvez, were released from the central prison on Friday on the basis of bail granted by the Sessions Court Larkana. They were in jail as the Railway police, Larkana, had registered an FIR against them for stealing nuts, bolts and fish plates of railway track near Shahnawaz Bhutto Railway Station.

Advocate Abdul Rehman Bhutto of the Child Rights Committee, Larkana, who appeared on behalf of the children, said on Friday that the sessions court had accepted the bail and issued release orders to the prison authorities for the three juvenile prisoners.

The court had also got confirmed the ages of the boys through medical board of the Chandka Medical College, the counsel for the juvenile prisoners said.

The board confirmed their ages between 12 and 13. Later the three were bailed out from the central prison.

HIGH COURT: Meanwhile, two under trial women prisoners, Zuriyat and Azeema, languishing in the special prison for women, Larkana, were produced before a division bench of the Sindh High Court’s Larkana circuit bench, comprising Justice Amir Hani Muslim and Justice Maqbool Baqir here on Friday. The SHC had earlier converted their applications into constitutional petitions.

They were facing charges under Hudood and Zina Ordinance, said Mohammed Ismael Bhutto, the state counsel.

The court had called the record and proceedings (R&P) from the concerned courts of Jacobabad where the cases of the two women were pending.

SUICIDE: Dhamraho police on Wednesday found a body hanging from a tree in the Barani Mughiri Village, 10 kilometres off here.

The deceased was identified as Zulfikar alias Jabal Mughiri, a resident of Jalal Khan Mughiri Village in Warah taluka. Police handed over the body to the relatives and began a probe.

SPLA: Office-bearers of the Sindh Professors and Lecturers Association, the Government Degree College Larkana unit, for the year 2005-06 have been elected unopposed.

According to results, Prof Slaeem Akhtar, Prof Ashique Kalhoro, Prof Ali Dino Shar, Prof Mubin Langah, Prof Abdul Wadood Memon and Prof Mohammed Ali Pathan were elected as president, vice president, general secretary, joint secretary, finance secretary and press secretary, respectively.
