Condolence reference

PESHAWAR, Oct 20: The University of Peshawar will nominate the late Dr Hameedullah , who died in a helicopter crash while on a relief mission in Bagh area, for national awards.

This was stated by Vice-Chancellor of the University of Peshawar Mumtaz Gul at a condolence reference held in the senate hall on Tuesday in memory of the late Dr Hameedullah, Director Centre for Excellence in Geology. The reference was attended by heads of the departments and deans of the faculties.

Mr Gul said Dr Hameedullah was a man of high calibre and was devoted to his work as he approved many projects worth Rs60.5m. He wanted to upgrade the centre and kept it up-to-date.

Dr Javed of Geology Department said that he was an excellent scientist on geological matters and had achieved many awards in this field. He was twice awarded Fulbright Scholarships, Presidential Award and IUCN Award for environment, he said.
