ICC clears Pakistan pacer Shabbir Ahmed's bowling action LAHORE, Pakistan, Oct 18 (AFP) - The ICC on Tuesday cleared Pakistani pacer Shabbir Ahmed of having a suspect bowling action and allowed him to bowl again in international matches. The ICC said in a statement that it had "written to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirming its fast bowler Ahmed can resume bowling at international level." The ICC, however, warned that if Ahmed was again suspended within two years of his previous suspension -- on July 13 -- he would be automatically banned from international cricket for a minimum of one year. Ahmed, 29, last month took extensive tests under Australian biomechanic expert Professor Bruce Elliott, who cleared his action.(Posted @ 19:45 PST) Bangladesh judge slightly injured in bomb attack DHAKA, Oct 18 (AFP) - A Bangladeshi judge suffered minor leg injuries Tuesday when a suspected militant threw a bomb at him in the northeastern city of Sylhet, police said. "The judge was returning home on Tuesday afternoon when a man hurled a bomb at him, causing slight injuries to his leg," Sylhet police chief Ansaruddin Khan Pathan said. People captured the attacker and beat him unconscious before handing him over to police, he said. The deputy governor of Anbar province Talib al-Dulaimi was shot dead by gunmen in the town of Ramadi. His bodyguard was also killed in the attack.Police found the bodies of six poultry factory workers who were members of the Mehdi army, a militia loyal to Moqtada al-Sadr, in a river bed at Balad, about 80 km north of Baghdad. Relatives said the men had disappeared 14 days ago.Three civilians were killed,seven wounded on Monday night when gunmen attacked the al-Rahman mosque in the town of Mahaweel, south of Baghdad, police said. Abdul Ghani, an adviser to Industry Minister Usama Abdul Aziz al-Najafi, a Sunni Arab, was killed by gunmen outside his home in Baghdad, police and interior ministry sources said. Two U.S. marines were killed on Monday by small-arms fire near Rutba, 370 km (230 miles) west of Baghdad near the borders with Syria and Jordan. Bus falls into pond in India, 40 feared dead GUWAHATI, India, Oct 18 (Reuters) - A passenger bus veered off the road and fell into a deep pond, killing about 40 people in India's northeastern state of Assam on Tuesday, police said. The bus, carrying around 50 passengers, was completely submerged and only 10 bodies had been recovered due to torrential rains, they said. "Some 30 people are still trapped inside the bus and they are feared dead," a police official said by telephone from the area. Ten passengers managed to jump out before the bus sank. Transparency International said in its annual report said the United States ranked 17th with a score of 7.6 while Iceland topped the list with a score of 9.7, followed by Finland (9.6), New Zealand (9.6), Denmark (9.5), Singapore (9.4), Sweden (9.2), Switzerland (9.1) Norway (8.9), Australia (8.8) and Austria (8.7). He said Pakistan is today economically strong and stable. He said rising inflation needed to be controlled through good monetary policies and remarked that IMF was encouraged due to changes in the tax structure, policies of liberalization, deregulation, privatization pursued by the government and financial sector reforms. At least 122 of Kamalkote's 163 houses were flattened, 155 of its 1,680 residents killed, 700 injured and 95 men, women and children still reported missing. Ghulam Nabi Lone, of the People's Democratic Party, was pronounced dead on arrival at a hospital, a doctor said. One of the attackers was also killed while two civilians and three security personnel were injured in the fierce gunbattle, an official said.
