KARACHI: Five die in accidents

KARACHI, Oct 12: Five persons died in separate road accidents in different parts of the city on Wednesday. In two accidents, three vehicles were set on fire by the enraged mob, police said.

In Gulberg area, 15-year-old Sajid died when a speeding truck hit him near Café Piyala. The injured boy was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

In another accident not far from cafe Piyala, a woman was knocked down by a speeding water-tanker at the Peoples Chowrangi in the limits of Taimuria police station.

In both the accidents, area people set the two vehicles involved in the accidents on fire.

In Zaman town, a young boy Shehryar, 7, was knocked down by a speeding minibus. Police said that the boy died on the spot. His body was sent to the JPMC for legal formalities. Following the accident, area people set the minibus to fire.

In another accident, a motorcyclist died and his friend was injured in a road accident in New town area.

Police said that speeding minibus of route (P-1) knocked down the motorcyclist. Both the injured were taken to JPMC where Mudassar died during treatment while his friend Saqib was treated for his injuries.
