HYDERABAD: Master plan for Hyderabad being prepared

HYDERABAD, Oct 6: Hyderabad DCO Muhammad Hussain Syed has said that the Hyderabad Development Package is designed to meet the needs of Hyderabad beyond the year 2010, while a separate master plan is also being prepared to assess the needs up to 2025.

He was presiding over a weekly meeting to ensure coordination among the stakeholders at the district nazim secretariat here on Thursday.

The meeting was attended by Provincial Highway Department Chief Engineer Mohammad Sharif Nizamani, Public Health Engineering Chief Engineer Mohammad Siddiq Jalbani, Town Planning Director Arif Memon, Hesco chief engineer, HDA director general, WASA managing director and other officers from T&T and Sui Gas.

He said that without close coordination among organizations overlapping of works could not be avoided. Therefore, the district government of Hyderabad had decided to establish a separate secretariat for HDP to ensure better coordination.

The DCO directed the officers concerned to submit the list of development schemes to the Provincial Highway Department, T&T, Sui Gas, Hesco and other departments to avoid overlapping of work.

He directed other development organizations to obtain an NOC from the district government or the management of HDP before starting any project.

Mr Syed said that all development works had been divided in five categories, including water supply, sewerage and drainage, transport and roads, solid waste management, and beautification and environment.

He said the Hyderabad district had a share of Rs7.5 billion from HDP, while the prime minister had announced Rs one billion for it. He said that Rs84 million had been allocated for the Hyderabad Cantonment Board.—Bureau
