Envoy urges Muslims to help the poor
ISLAMABAD, Oct 5: Saudi ambassador Ali S. Awadh Asseri has congratulated the Muslims on the advent of the holy month of Ramazan and urged them to share the blessings of the month with the under-privilegded.
In his message here on Wednesday, the ambassador said, “Every year, Allah bestows on Muslims the gift of the month of Ramazanul Mubarak, the ultimate of His blessings.”
“On behalf of the leadership, the government and the people of Saudi Arabia, I extend my warmest greetings to the leadership, the government and the people of Pakistan on the auspicious advent of the holy month,” the ambassador said.
Ambassador Asseri said the fasting month inculcated discipline in us and taught us to be generous. “Blessed with Lailatul Qadar, Ramazanul Mubarak is a month to thank Allah for His benevolence and kindness that He so consistently showers on His people.”
He said it was time to bow before Him and seek His forgiveness for the excesses that we may have committed knowingly and unknowingly; seek His guidance in following the right path and staying away from what may lead us astray.
“It is time to forget and forgive the wrongs that others may have inflicted upon us. It is time to visit our elders and unite with them, transcending all differences that we may have had with them in the past.”
The ambassador called upon the Muslims to share the blessings of Ramazan with the under-privileged and to look after their needs because they are the people who need your care and attention.
“Take a moment out and look around yourself at those millions who may be without a morsel to eat, or clothes to wear, or a place to live. Take a moment out and think of those relations and friends who were with you this time last year, but are not there any more. Remember them in your prayers,” the ambassador said.
“Ramazanul Mubarak is the month when Allah promises His choicest blessings to be bestowed upon the kind and the righteous. It is, therefore, for us to seek of Him to guide us on the right path that leads to salvation,” Mr Asseri said.
