ISLAMABAD, Sept 29: Leaders Afghan Club of Chaman suffered a major setback when they were routed by Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) 3-0 in Pakistan Premier Soccer League (PPSL) on Thursday at KRL Stadium, Rawalpindi.
KRL dominated the game throughout the match and got the lead in 33rd minute when midfielder Sajjad struck with a brilliant solo effort. KRL was enjoying a lead of 1-0 at the breather.
Twelve minutes into second half Sajjad fired the second goal after a fine one-two with winger Qadeer Ahmed. International Qadeer was himself the executor in the final minute of the game with a long-range effort that landed into right corner to seal a 3-0 win over one of the top team of the competition.
It was Afghan’s sixth defeat in the event and they are leading table with 34 points from 20 matches.
Habib Bank Limited kept their hopes alive for at least third-position when they struck through substitute striker to beat Pakistan Navy 1-0 at Naval Complex, Islamabad.
After hard-fought first half, which failed to produce any goal, bankers replaced Amjad Yousuf with Kamran Ishaq. The change worked as Kamran broke the off-side trap in the 52nd minute and rifled the ball past keeper Zubair’s for the decisive goal.
The seamen must blame themselves for defeat as they failed to utilize 87th minute spot-kick.
