Afghan team due today

KARACHI, Sept 20: An 18-member Afghanistan national cricket squad is due here from Kabul en route Peshawar on Wednesday to play a series of matches against local outfits, secretary Karachi City Cricket Association (KCCA) Prof Sirajul Islam Bukhari said on Tuesday.

He said KCCA had made arrangements for their 11-day visit. During their stay here, the visitors will play one-day matches against PIA, Pakistan Customs, Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC), AOCC, Dewan Motors and KCCA.

KCCA has appointed Saeed Jabbar as liaison officer for the guests.

Afghan squad: Khaliqdad Noori (captain), Asadullah Khan (vice-captain), Ahmad Shah Ahmadi, Badshah Hussain, Nowroze Khan Mengal, Alam Khan Bloch, Muhammad Khan, Khan Muhammad, Haqdad Zoranoosh, Sadullah Khan Sadaat, Nasar Khan, Hameed Khan Shenwari, Izzatullah Khan and Naveed Khan Kakar. Haji Azizullah Fazli (manager), Muhammad Shafiq Stanikzai (physio) and Bahram Khan Sahaak (umpire) are officials.

Itinerary: Sept 23 vs PIA at NSK, Sept 24 vs A O (day/night) at AAS Stadium, Sept 26 vs Pakistan Customs at NSK, Sept 28 vs SSGC at PCB Academy ground, Sept 30 vs Dewan Motors at PCB Academy ground, Oct 2 vs KCCA at KCCA Stadium.—APP
