Aziz assures Karachi uplift

ISLAMABAD, Sept 20: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has said the local government system is playing an important role in improving governance and helps resolve problems at the local level. He was talking to a delegation of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, led by its parliamentary leader in the National Assembly Dr Farooq Sattar, here on Tuesday.

The prime minister said the government was developing major cities under the urban renewal programme to improve the infrastructure and provide basic facilities to all these cities.

He said that Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Mirpurkhas and other major cities would benefit under the programme.

The political situation as well as matters relating to the coalition and the upcoming legislative agenda of the National Assembly was discussed during the meeting.—PPI
