KARACHI: Police fail to arrest suspects: Sohrab Goth violence

KARACHI, Sept 12: Police on Monday failed to arrest any of the suspects responsible for the death of two persons, including a Rangers official, during violence that broke out when the pesh imam of a mosque in Sohrab Goth was shot at by unknown persons late on Sunday night.

Also a local leader of JUI, Qari Abdur Razzaq was shot at by unknown persons near Al-Asif Square on Sunday night. He was rushed to Liaquat National Hospital where he was stated to be in a stable condition.

However, the incident sparked violence near Al-Asif Square, as enraged people set on fire two cars and four motorcycles. They also torched the Al-Asif police kiosk destroying the furniture and record inside the police post.

According to the police, unknown people also resorted to firing during which Rangers official Gul Nawab and another Saeed Alam suffered bullet wounds. Both the injured were rushed to hospitals, where they died during treatment late on Sunday night.

Violence continued for several hours till the arrival of the heavy police force and Rangers personnel.

Police on Monday registered an FIR at Sachal police station under anti-terrorist act against unknown persons responsible for creating law and order situation, which resulted in two deaths on Sunday night.

TPO Gadap Javed Baloch said that the body of Rangers official was sent to his native town in Punjab for funeral.

The body of Saeed Alam has been kept at the Edhi morgue. His funeral would take place on Tuesday. The victim resided in close vicinity of Al-Asif Square and was returning home when he was wounded, the TPO said.

KILLED: A man was stabbed to death by unknown persons in Gulshan-i-Hadeed on Monday.

Police said that the victim identified as Fazal, 40, was brought to JPMC, where he died during treatment.

Hospital sources said the victim had suffered several wounds in his abdomen and died of profuse bleeding.
