HYDERABAD: No differences with coalition partners, says Arbab: Third round of local body elections

HYDERABAD, Sept 12: Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim has claimed that the third phase of the local body elections would not affect Muslim League’s relations with its partners.
He was talking to reporters at the circuit house here on late Sunday night.
He said that the PML was contesting in the third phase with consultation of their partners and there were no differences among them.
The chief minister said that the Muslim League and its coalition partners were in majority in 23 districts of Sindh and had decided to support Jalal Mehmood Shah of the Pakistan Oppressed Nations Movement (PONM) for the district nazim of Jamshoro.
Replying to a question, he said that their decision was supported by Pir Zaman Shah and Malik Changez Khan, who were present on the occasion. They endorsed the views of the chief minister.
Dr Rahim said that his party was reviewing few names for the Matiari district nazim while it had nominated Mir Inayat Talpur of the Khushhal Pakistan Panel to contest for Tando Mohammad Khan district nazim.
He said that the PML and its partners were in alliance with the Magsi Ittehad in Tando Allahyar district and nominated Rahila Magsi for district nazim and Khair Mohammad Khokar for taluka nazim.
He said that the People’s Party Parliamentarian was trying to create differences among coalition of the government and wanted to contest the elections by using unfair means.
He warned the PPP that their plan to create disturbances would not be tolerated and sanctity of ballot would be maintained at any cost.
Dr Rahim criticized the PPP for showing double standards by protesting for the restoration of 1973 constitution and taking part in the LB polls under the present constitution. Replying to another question, he said that Pir Saheb Pagara was consulted before taking any decision on the next round of the polls.
Earlier, the chief minister held separate meetings with the elected nazims, naib nazims, and councillors of his party.
LAST DATE: The University of Sindh has extended date for submission of examination forms of regular candidates of postgraduate Colleges for M.A, M.Com, M.Sc (previous and final) under annual examination of 2004 upto Sept, 20.
The controller advised colleges concerned that examination forms be submitted to the university upto Sept 25 and made it clear that no examination forms will be entertained by the university after expiry of due date.
