KARACHI:: Post-rain measures

KARACHI, Sept 12: After eight-hour-long efforts, Town Municipal Administration Gulshan-i-Iqbal succeeded in maintaining the level of rising water in culverts that could have inundated four slum localities.

The intermittent rains in last two days raised the water level in culverts of Bangawar Goth, Pehlwan Goth, Sikandar Goth and Bhitai Abad Goth. Following the emergence of flood threat, caretaker town administration took action and through relevant staff and point machines drained out the rainwater.

It said work was under way to reopen choked manholes and drainage system while debris was also being removed from roads.

Meanwhile, caretaker Municipal Administration of Jamshed Town also said to have initiated cleanliness drive to remove accumulated rain and sewerage water from roads for ensuring smooth flow of traffic.—PPI
