LANDI KOTAL (Khyber Agency), Sept 10: Two persons were killed and eight others including a minor were injured when two groups exchanged fire in two separate incidents in Jamrud tehsil on Saturday. Haji Shah Alam and his rival Haji Yahya along with their armed men had come to tehsiil office for the resolution of an old dispute between the two families. The two groups exchanged hot words during a jirga which ensued into an armed clash which resulted in the killing of Bismillah Khan of Haji Yahya group on the spot.

The groups again exchanged fire when they came out of the tehsil office which resulted in killing of a woman and injured at least six persons, including two passers-by.

The injured were identified as Shah Alam, Meer Aslam of Haji Shah Alam group while Qayyum, Sulaiman, Ahmad Said and Meran Gul were pedestrians.

The local authorities arrested Shakeel Khan and Ghaffar of Haji Yahya group and Haji Shah Alam, Gul Islam, Pir Ghulam, Meer Aslam and Tila Mohammad from the other group. A tribal jirga later effected a four-month ceasefire between the two groups.

In another incident two persons including a minor received bullet injuries when a wanted man Sheikh Sadiq fired at his brother in Teddi bazaar in Jamrud tehsil. Sheikh Sadiq had a financial dispute with his brother. His brother escaped unhurt.
