PPP-SB to keep out of third phase of polls

By Our Correspondent

DADU, Sept 7: Ghinwa Bhutto, the chairperson of the Pakistan People’s Party (Shaheed Bhutto group) said that the nazims, naib nazims and councillors of her party would not vote in the third phase of the local body elections to select taluka and district nazims.

She was speaking to the workers’ convention at the PPP-SB office here on Tuesday night.

Ms Bhutto said the political system was controlled by the bureaucrats and there was no justice in the country.

She said that there was no genuine politics in the country, hence her children, Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto junior and Fatima Bhutto, would never take part in politics.

She said that her workers participated in the local body elections only to solve problems of poor people.

The PPP-SB chairperson said that Pakistan was a state of agencies and police and people were not allowed to live a free life.

She said that majority of the political parties and political leaders including Benazir Bhutto were making election alliances for their own benefits. Such alliances were, however, dangerous to real democracy, she said. She said that Mir Murtaza Bhutto did not compromise on the principles hence he was martyred.

Those who also spoke on the occasion were Mian Khan Rind, Seema Rafi and Ali Mohammad Jamali.

ARREST: Dadu town police arrested three suspects on Wednesday in a bomb blast case as some unknown persons had exploded a bomb at the Katchery road on Tuesday night.

Police conducted raids at different places in the city and arrested three. Police were not disclosing names of the two. Dadu DPO Rukhsar Ahmed Khuhawar said that one of the arrested was Naushab Ahmed Qureshi, a resident of Multan.

Later, the bomb disposal squad led by Saleem Ahmed visited the spot. He told reporters that terrorists had used a bomb to create panic in the city. Fortunately the bomb was not powerful, he said.

In another incident, the Thrari Mohabbat police arrested two outlaws Mohammad Ali Samtio and Abdul Razzaq Narejo at the Mehar-Thrari Mohabbat link road on Wednesday after a brief encounter.
