MITHI: Handicrafts centre set up

MITHI, Sept 7: Tharparkar DCO Dr Aftab Ahmed Memon has said that the government has been taking initiatives for bringing handicrafts of Thar on sound footing, particularly to enable its women folk to supplement income of their families by preparing and selling unique hand made items.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the cottage industry and a handicraft centre here on Wednesday, Mr Memon contended that Thar is rich in culture and its handicrafts are popular and demanded all over the world. Setting up of the handicraft centre would enable Thari girls and women to earn their livelihood and to live the life with dignity and honour, the DCO added.
