KARACHI, Sept 4: The Sindh government has declared the Auqaf Department as the focal point with regard to the ongoing registration of madressahs in the province. The registration of madressahs shall be effected under the Societies Act XXI of 1860 (Amendment Ordinance No XXII of 2005) by the Registrar Joint Stock Companies, Industries Department.

The following regional offices have been set up: Nusrat Mukhtar, Directorate of Industries, Block 25, Sindh Secretariat No 4-A, Shahrah-i-Liaquat, Karachi, tel no 9205741; Syed Aijazul Hai Rizvi, Deputy Director Industries, National Highway Wahadat Colony, Hyderabad, tel no 0221-9240181; M.M. Kalwar Deputy Director Industries, Masoom Shah Minara Road, Sukkur, tel no 071-9310357; Abdul Rasheed Tunio Assistant Director Industries, Near Arshi Hospital, Lahori Mohalla, Larkana (Larkana and Jacobabad districts), tel no 0741-9410207.

Meanwhile, to facilitate the registration of madressahs, various cells have also been established throughout the province.

The Deputy Secretary of the Auqaf, Religious, Minorities Affairs, Zakat and Ushr Department will monitor the process at the provincial level. Concerned tel nos are 021-9211935 and 9211346.
