Published September 1, 2005

KARACHI, Aug 31: Senior Sindh Minister Syed Sardar Ahmed will lay the foundation stone of the Higher Education Centre building at the Sindh Madressahtul Islam Board (SMB) campus in Education City, Malir on Sep 1.

The stone-laying ceremony will coincide with the 120th Anniversary of the SMB and the SMB Quaid-i-Azam Public School.

The SMB was constituted by the Central Mohammadan Association, which in turn was formed by Khan Bahadur Hassanally Effendi in 1884 in Sindh.

The SMB founded the first Muslim High School in Sindh in 1885 on the lines of the Aligarh Muslim College, which produced eminent scholars, professors, intellectuals, statesmen, lawyers, engineers, economists, doctors and social reformers.

Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah remained a student of this old educational institution of Sindh for over four years.—PPI
