ISLAMABAD, Aug 30: A two-day international roundtable conference on intellectual property rights ended here on Tuesday, formulating recommendations for an effective strategy to combat the problem of piracy.
The participants, including several foreign delegates, discussed the issue comprehensively, sharing experiences and proposals.
The Intellectual Property Organization Pakistan (IPOP) organized the roundtable in collaboration with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the European Union.
The discussions focussed on intellectual property enforcement, technology transfer, organizational structures, financial autonomy and stability of IPOP, better delivery of services through IT use, building databases and dealing with emerging issues.
Senior officials of the WIPO and delegates from the European Union, Singapore, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Thailand and Afghanistan attended the first roundtable on intellectual property rights in Pakistan.—APP
