Terrorism, drug trafficking, prisoners to top India-Pakistan talks NEW DELHI, Aug 28 (AFP) - India and Pakistan will discuss drug trafficking and terrorism and review the status of nationals jailed in each other's countries during talks this week, Pakistani Home Secretary Syed Kamal Shah said Sunday. Shah is leading an 11-member delegation to the talks starting Monday while the Indian team is headed by Home Secretary V.K. Duggal. "Usually the agenda is terrorism and drug trafficking but this time we have requested that we would like to discuss the issue of prisoners held in both countries," Shah told reporters. England cling on to take Ashes lead NOTTINGHAM, England, Aug 28 (AFP) - England survived a superb Shane Warne spell to win the fourth Test against Australia by three wickets and go 2-1 up in the Ashes series following a dramatic finale at Trent Bridge here Sunday. Set a modest 129 to win, after Australia made 387 following-on, England collapsed to 57 for four as legendary leg-spinner Warne took three wickets for seven runs in 29 balls. Ten killed in accident BAHAWALPUR, Aug 28 (APP): Ten persons including one woman and two children died in a road accident at Ahmad Pur East, sixty kilometers away from here on Sunday. According to DSP Ahmad Pur East, a motorcycle rikhshaw collided with a coach No ND 1385 and eight persons onboard motorcycle rikhshaw died on the spot while two passengers of the same vehicle sustained serious injuries who later expired. Died persons were identified as Allah Rakha (Driver Motorcycle Rikhaw) Muhammad Khalid, Bashir Ahmad, Shamim Mal, Laila Bibi (Girl) Majno Khan, Aziz ur Rehman, Mahboob Ahmad Muhammad Riaz and Rashid Mahmood. Iraq Sunni delegates reject "American" constitution BAGHDAD, Aug 28 (Reuters) - A Sunni Arab delegate on the committee drafting Iraq's constitution said all his colleagues on the panel objected to a draft presented to parliament on Sunday and would campaign against it in an October referendum. "We have not agreed on this constitution. We have objections which are the same as we had from day one," Hussein al-Falluji told Reuters, saying he was speaking for all Sunni delegates and denying suggestions the group was split.(Posted @ 17:15 PST)

India, Afghanistan pledge to defeat terrorism Kabul, August 28 (PPI): India and Afghanistan pledged on Sunday to work together to defeat the menace of terrorism in the region. Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh during his two-day trip to Afghanista, first by any Indian prime minister in 29 years, said that the dialogue that has began sets out a path for the progress. Speaking at a press conference while issuing a joint statement, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said, ``There is convergence of view that terrorism anywhere and everywhere poses threat. Improvement of relations among India, Pakistan a necessity: Afghan President Kabul, August 28 (PPI): Afghan President Hamid Karzai said on Sunday that the improvement of relation between India and Pakistan is a necessity that overtakes any other reason. Palestinian suicide bomber strikes in Israel BEERSHEBA, Israel, Aug 28 (Reuters) - A Palestinian suicide bomber blew himself up in southern Israel on Sunday, wounding more than 20 people, in the first such attack since the eviction of Jewish settlers from Gaza and the northern West Bank. There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the blast, three days after Israeli troops killed five Palestinians in a raid on a militant hideout in the West Bank city of Tulkarm, drawing a vow of revenge from the Islamic Jihad group. Gunman shoots Iranian judge in the eye - minister TEHRAN, Aug 28 (Reuters) - A gunman has shot an Iranian judge in the eye and hand outside his Tehran home, seriously wounding him, the justice minister said on Sunday. Singh arrives in Afghanistan in first visit by Indian leader for 29 years KABUL, Aug 28 (AFP) - Prime Minister Manmohan Singh arrived in Afghanistan Sunday for the first visit by an Indian leader in 29 years, carrying fresh aid offers and seeking to blunt rival Pakistan's influence. Singh's special plane landed at Kabul airport at 9:40am (0510 GMT), Khaleeq Ahmad, a spokesman for President Hamid Karzai said ahead of the Indian premier's meeting with the Afghan leader. Ten wounded in blast near Israeli bus station JERUSALEM, Aug 28 (AFP) - At least 10 people were wounded after an explosion went off Sunday near a bus station in the southern Israeli city of Beersheva, public radio reported. Blast rips ferry in Philippine south, 30 injured MANILA, Aug 28 (Reuters) - Some 30 people were injured when a powerful explosion ripped through the passenger section of a ferry at a port on Basilan island in the southwestern Philippines, an army general said on Sunday. Brigadier-General Raymundo Ferrer, the island's army commander, said the steel-hulled ferry Dona Ramona was boarding passengers in Lamitan port when a blast occurred near the vessel's cafeteria, triggering a small fire. China plan would make six-way NKorea talks a regional security forum: report TOKYO, Aug 28 (AFP) - Six-nation talks on ending North Korea's nuclear ambitions should later be reorganized into a regional security forum, according to a draft agreement proposed by China, a news report said Sunday. The plan for a nuclear-weapons free Korean peninsula, already on the table at the Beijing-hosted talks, proposes normalized ties between the United States and Japan on the one hand and North Korea on the other, said the Asahi Shimbun. It also suggests giving security guarantees and energy assistance to North Korea and turning the six-nation talks into an ongoing regional mechanism, the newspaper said, citing several unnamed official sources. Bus accident in north China kills 10 people BEIJING Aug 28 (APP/AP) _ A bus ran off a road and hit a large rock in a ditch in north China, killing 10 people, state media reported Sunday. The accident Saturday in a mountainous area of Shanxi province also injured 13 people, who were taken to area hospitals, the official Xinhua News Agency said.
