KARACHI, Aug 27: Sindh Education and Literacy Minister Dr Hamida Khuhro on Saturday said that the public-private partnership could play an important role in promoting quality education, and urged philanthropists to join hands with the government in eradicating illiteracy.
She was speaking at the annual prize distribution ceremony of the Defence Society Residents Association at Educational and Welfare Trust School, Askari Markaz, DHA.
Dr Khuhro indicated that the government was focusing especially on filling the gaps in rural and remote areas of the province by providing necessary educational infrastructure and facilities.
She lauded the DSRA trust’s efforts towards making the school to grow and become an example of excellence.
On this occasion, she revealed that the government was seriously considering revival of grant and aid to the private institutions established by philanthropists.
President of the Trust Inam Elahi Shaikh told the audience that quality education on most modern lines was being imparted at the school, and appreciated voluntary teachers who are contributing their great efforts and energy besides devoting time to the noble cause.
DHA Administrator Brig Maqsood Hussain reiterated the Authority’s continued support to the efforts towards promotion of quality education at all levels.
Later, the minister distributed prizes and certificates among brilliant students for their outstanding performance. — PPI
