KARACHI: Ibad lauds people for peaceful elections


KARACHI, Aug 25: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad on Thursday felicitated people of Sindh on their enthusiastic participation in the second phase of local body polls in the province and lauded the law-enforcement agencies, candidates and voters for peaceful completion of polls.

In a statement issued here, the governor said like first phase of LB polls, law and order situation remained largely peaceful in the province in the second phase on Aug 25.

He opined that by participating overwhelmingly in these polls, people expressed their confidence in the system for devolution of power to grassroots level.

Terming local governments system as a silent revolution, whose effects were directly reaching masses, he expressed the hope that after the announcement of results, all the difference between candidates will vanish and all stake-holders would jointly strive for the betterment of their constituencies, province, country and the people.

He directed the Home Minister, Information Advisor, DG Rangers Sindh and IGP Sindh to congratulate their subordinates on his behalf for providing facilities to the voters, and journalists.

Dr. Ishratul Ibad also thanked Commander Corps for supporting the provincial administration in holding LB polls in a peaceful manner.—PPI
