KARACHI, Aug 23: An accountability court put off on Tuesday the hearing of a Rs298 million fraud case against three officials of the Pakistan Post Office after the prosecution concluded its evidence with the statement of the investigation officer.

Ms Qaiser Iqbal of the AC-1, who is also the administrative judge of all ACs, fixed Aug 31 for recording statements of the accused after the deposition of IO Illahi Bux Tunio.

Former post-master Izhar Hussain Siddiqui, former post-master general, Sindh, Ehsan Baseer Shaikh, Arshad Ali and Sohail Siddique have been charged with misappropriation of funds in the City Courts Post Office. One of the accused, Mohammed Hussain, has died.

PW Ijaz Minhas, presently the director administration, PPO, deposed that he found Izhar Hussain Siddiqui at the seat of post-master when he visited the City Courts Post Office. He said accused Siddiqui told him that he retired from the services in 1994.
