By Aftab Gilani

LAHORE, Aug 20: Seven-year-old gelding, Lucky Mayla, who finished third on his previous outing, can claim feature event during the Lahore Summer Meeting to be held at the Racecourse on Sunday.

The Kassowal Plate Class IV division III handicap race will be run over the sprinting distance of 1100 metres and will be the fourth event of the day.

The feature event has a small field of seven runners. Besides Lucky Mayla, the four-year-old bay colt, Dazzy Gold and the chestnut horse Aya Chandiwala are the other form horses.

The way this son of Dazzler out of dam by Bluemen Mejaz, Lucky Mayla ran third, behind Puma Princess and When Or Where, he should have no difficulty in winning in a field far less in experience and classification he is to face on Sunday.

There are nine contenders in the third and supporting event barring last-minute withdrawals.

Of them Russian Rhythm, Storm Warning and Lucky Commander should battle for supremacy.

All are speedy animals and they have won one race each in the past outings. The remaining four contenders ran poorly in their previous outings.

Manu Janu, Queen Of Saba and Dumbo are the pick of the eleven strong field in the second race, a class V division II handicap event to be gone over 1100 metres.

Manu Janu has won a splendid race on her last outing while Queen Of Saba and Dumbo were beaten in their previous running.

On handicap and the style of gelding’s winning the race over 1000 metres, Manu Janu should make it two in-a-row.
