JACOBABAD, Aug 20: Pakistan People’s Party District President and Member of the National Assembly Aijaz Jakhrani claimed to get the majority of 21 union council nazims in the local bodies elections held on August 18, while speaking at a press conference here on Saturday.

Jakhrani said despite interference by the federal and the provincial ministers, PPP-backed Awam Dost Party swept the elections. The voters foiled every government tactic against the ADP candidates, he said.

The district president claimed that ADP nazims and naib nazims have won from 21 union council seats out of 40. He claimed to win 230 councillor seats as well.

He said Jacobabad was the only district in Sindh where ADP candidates won with a record majority of seats.
