LANDI KOTAL (Khyber Agency), Aug 20: A young electrician lost his life on Friday after grid station workers here unexpectedly restored power supply to Peerokhel village.

The electrician, identified as Shah Khan, was at the time busy repairing a transformer in the village.

Shah Khan received severe burn injuries following high-voltage shocks. He was immediately rushed to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries late in the night.

The family of the deceased said that Mr Khan had obtained prior permission from grid station staff before going out to fix the transformer. They blamed his death on the negligence of grid station staff.

The workers at the grid station normally charge a fee of Rs1,000 from electricians who carry out repairs on transformers in Landi Kotal, it was reliably learnt. Shah Khan had also paid a similar fee.
