KARACHI, Aug 19: The College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP) will extend cooperation to the Sudanese government in providing medical education and training to Sudanese doctors.
This was stated by CPSP President Prof. Sultan Farooqui during a meeting with Secretary Sudan Medical Specialization Board Dr Zaidan Abu Zaidan, who called on him at the college.
Prof Abu Zaidan, has sought Pakistan’s support for post-graduate training of its doctors and upgrading its healthcare facilities.
Dr. Zaidan Abu Zaidan is on a Visit of Pakistan for bilateral cooperation between the two countries in health sector.
During his visit to the college, Dr. Zaidan appreciated cooperation of CPSP previously extended to Sudan and said due to support of the college, healthcare delivery system in Sudan had improved.
“We will be benefited through CPSP in future, as it has became world standard institution due to its best performance,” he opined.
Prof. Sultan Farooqui said that the CPSP was providing full technical support to Sudan for the last five years. The college will also cooperate with the SMSB in various disciplines, in future, including holding of training programme for examiners in both the countries, surgical skills and training workshops.
According to a press release issued here on Friday, the two ministries have entered into a memorandum of understanding according to which the Federal Health Ministry, in coordination with College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan (CPSP), will be establishing a Multi Research Center in Khartoum, Sudan this year.—PPI/APP
