KARACHI, Aug 17: Three ships carrying containers, diesel oil and chemicals were berthed at QICT, FOT and EVT during last 24 hours, said a PQA press release on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, another container ship also arrived at the outer anchorage. Berth occupancy rose to 78 per cent as seven ships, Aurora, Sealand Meriner, Precious, Eburna, Warbah, Ginga Tiger and Washington Trader, were busy in loading and unloading containers, rice and edible oil diesel oil, chemicals and seeds.

Cargo handling activity was maintained on the higher side as a total tonnage of 107,492 tons comprising 84,056 tons of import cargo and 23,436 tons of export tonnage was handled.

Sailing was slow as only Sealand Meriner left the port while Aurora, Eburna and Warbah were due to depart.

Two ships, Contship Indigo and Gemini, were awaiting their berthing turn at the outer anchorage. A container ship, Asian Gyro, was due to arrive at the port.
