Differences in Toba PML deepen

Published August 8, 2005

TOBA TEK SINGH, Aug 7: Differences in the ruling PML are deepening as the local government electioneering gains momentum in the district. Former district nazim and Punjab PML vice-president Chaudhry Muhammad Ashfaq’s group had claimed a couple of days ago that all office-bearers, except the office of district president, had been selected by party high command from this group.

Now Punjab Forest Minister and PML district president Dr Ashfaqur Rehman claims that Ashfaq’s group had wrongly released the list of party’s district office-bearers.

He claimed that besides his own nomination as district president, only three other office-bearers had been announced by Punjab PML president, including Chaudhry Khalid Javed Warraich of Gojra as senior vice-president, Zahoorul Haq Arain of Kamalia as general secretary and Aurangzeb Thaheem of Rajana as information secretary.

He said other office bearers would be announced soon.
