PESHAWAR, Aug 7: Federal Interior Minister Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao has said the provision of basic amenities and modern civic facilities in less developed areas are central to the federal government’s policies.

He said this while addressing a delegation, led by Ayaz Khan Jhagra, from Meera Kachuri on Sunday. He said that the allocation in the Annual Development Plan had been increased manifold for the socio-economic uplift of the people.

He said that a swift mechanism would be put in place to implement the development projects within the stipulated time.

Mr Sherpao said that effective measures have been taken to bring down the price of consumer goods and for this purpose the supply of edible items to utility stores has been streamlined.

He said that apart from supply augmenting measures, the purchasing power of low-income groups has been enhanced with a substantial increase in salaries and allowances.

The federal interior minister, while referring to the upcoming local bodies’ polls, assured the elders of Meera Kachuri that foolproof arrangements have been made for holding these polls in a peaceful and smooth manner.—APP

He said that beside the personnel of law-enforcing agencies contingents of civil armed forces would also be called if needed. The candidates should also fulfil their responsibilities in this regard, Sherpao stressed.—APP
