Sara crowned champion

By Our Sports Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Aug 6: Top seed Sara Mahboob on Saturday clinched the singles crown in the National Women’s ranking tennis tournament at the PTF Complex by defeating Nida Rahim in a hard-fought final.

The 14-year-old Sara appeared to be under no pressure after losing the first set in a tie-break and came back to seal a memorable 6-7(3), 6-2, 6-4 victory.

Although Sara made several unforced errors during the course of play her confidence did her a world of good as she kept troubling Nida with some powerful strokes.

The under-17 title went to Anoosha Aslam who scored a 4-0, 2-4, 4-0 victory in a match played alongside the singles final.
