LAHORE, Aug 5: New emergency block will be completed in five government hospitals in the province at a cost of Rs357.36 million within a year. This was stated at a meeting of the communication and works department held here on Friday to review the progress of work on emergency blocks being built in three hospitals in Lahore and two Rawalpindi. Provincial minister Zaheeruddin Khan presided.
The minister was told that the construction of new emergency block in Sir Ganga Ram Hospital would be completed at a cost of Rs188.911 million by December. New emergency blocks at Lahore General Hospital and Services Hospitals would be completed next year at a cost of Rs106.418 million and Rs23.1 million respectively.
Emergency blocks in Rawalpindi General Hospital and Rawalpindi DHQ Hospital were nearing completion at a cost of Rs5 million and Rs33.931 million respectively.
He directed the chief engineer (works) to inspect the new buildings and submit a report on the quality of construction and pace of work.
He said the government would not tolerate any lapse in any of its development schemes.
