KARACHI, Aug 5: The double murder case of girls unfolded on Friday with new revelations made by the mother of one of the slain girls before the police. Following the detention of Lala Zameen Khan, Sumaira’s father, police on Thursday night detained her mother, Saeeda, for questioning.

During the interrogation, Saeeda told police that her daughter was having an affair with Shahid, son of Javed, a showroom owner in Clifton. She told the police that Shahid married another girl a few months back, which infuriated Sumaira. She informed his sister and other family members about their affair.

According to Saeeda, Sumaira told her on Sunday afternoon that she was going to see Shahid and would get the issue settled. Her cousin Anila also accompanied her, Saeeda told police. However, they did not return.

Police detained Shahid’s father Javed, who according to the police already knew the whole story but did not inform them. However, Shahid evaded the arrest. Police said that they were conducting raids for his arrest.

Police said that Shahid resided in Bath Island Clifton and used his father’s car to dump the bodies in DHA. However, when and where he killed the girls was yet to be ascertained.

DIG Investigation Manzoor Mughal told Dawn that police had almost solved the case, however, raids are being conducted to arrest Shahid who is the prime suspect in the case. He said that when girl’s father was detained he tried to play smart with the police, but later told the investigators to ask questions from his wife.

Subsequently, Sumaira’s mother was brought in by the police for questioning who narrated the whole story.

Initially, police suspected that the killing was result of some family dispute.

It may be recalled here that the bodies of Anila and Sumaira were found from Defence Phase-VIII on Monday morning.
