KARACHI: MQM to issue ‘white paper’ on corruption of city govt
KARACHI, Aug 5: Sindh Planning Minister Shoaib Ahmad Bukhari and Local Government Adviser Waseem Akhtar on Friday said that a ‘white paper’ on the alleged malpractices of former city district government of Karachi (CDGK) would be released on Aug 9.
“The previous city government wasted four years and five billion rupees and now we are working on war-footings to compensate the same and develop the city,” they said while talking to newsmen after laying the foundation stone of construction of roads in Surjani Town costing Rs55 million.
Shoaib Bukhari and Waseem Akhtar said these schemes had been lying pending for many years, but the then city government was not taking interest to take them up for vested interests while on the other the area people were facing problems due to non-construction of these roads.
“We will not allow the projects of Karachi to be sacrificed at the altar of politics and commission,” they pledged adding that Karachi has been exploited a lot, but now we will make up the damages.
They alleged that the plaques of several projects were unveiled but most of them remained just in documents and no work kicked off.—APP
