LAHORE, Aug 1: The Federal Investigation Agency on Monday obtained a four-day remand of film producer Riaz Gujjar in human-smuggling cases. Riaz Gujjar was arrested on Friday from a film studio on Multan Road.

Inspector Gul Snober told Dawn that the accused and his brother Shahzad Gujjar had been booked in six cases registered with the FIA passport cell. Shahzad had been declared proclaimed offender, he added.

He said the accused had taken Rs2.5 million from six people on the promise of sending them to the UK and Canada.

Meanwhile, the immigration authorities arrested one Nadeem Akhtar for travelling to Hong Kong on fake documents.

He has been sent to the passport cell for registration of a case.
