ISLAMABAD, Aug 1: The Organization of Islamic Conference Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation (Comstech) has recently established 10 inter-Islamic networks, a press release issued here on Monday said. The networks established by Comstech are Water Resources Development and Management at Amman (Jordan); Space Science and Technology at Karachi; Renewable Energy Sources at Islamabad; Oceanography at Izmir (Turkey); Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology at Cairo (Egypt); Tropical Medicine at Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia); Biosaline Agriculture at Dubai (UAE); and Veterinary Science Research and Environment in Sudan.
The press release said these networks were launched with seed money provided by Comstech. Most of these networks are now being supported by the host governments and the Islamic Development Bank. They conduct research programmes and hold seminars/workshops in their fields of specialization, it added.
