Ganguly’s ban reduced

NEW DELHI, July 28: The ICC has reduced by two games a six-match ban imposed on India captain Saurav Ganguly for his team’s slow over rate. South African judge Albie Sachs gave the ruling on Thursday after an appeal by the Indian board to the ICC’s Disputes Resolution Committee. Its initial challenge of the ban was rejected.

Ganguly was banned for six one-dayers in April for his team’s slow over rate in two consecutive games against Pakistan. He will now have to sit out only two matches as he missed the last two games of the Pakistan series pending his first appeal.—Reuters
