Vaas warns of burn-out

COLOMBO, July 27: Sri Lanka’s paceman Chaminda Vaas, who is struggling to be fit for opening match of ODI tri-series against India on Saturday, says fast bowlers risk injuries by playing too much county cricket in England. “For a batsman it’s okay. You learn a lot of things and get a lot of opportunities,” Vaas told Wednesday’s Daily News.

“For a fast bowler it is not an easy job. Two or three months is okay, but more than that I wouldn’t recommend.” He strained his right hamstring taking 6-22 in first innings during Sri Lanka’s win against West Indies this week and couldn’t bowl in second innings.—Agencies
