KARACHI: Heaps of garbage in Saddar removed

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, July 26: As a part of its ongoing cleanliness drive, the Saddar Town municipal administration lifted 315 tons of garbage and demolished 120 illegal structures from different union councils.

The special cleanliness drive was launched to further improve the general living conditions in the town and clear the road obstructions to make flow of traffic smoother.

The garbage was removed from UC-3 Kharadar, UC-4 City Railway Colony, UC-7 Islampura, Millat Nagar and UC-8 Saddar.

TMO Town Mukhtar Husain who is also caretaker administrator said a full-fledged campaign had been launched in the town for the cleaning up of drains as the intermittent rains had always played havoc and disrupted civic life.

He said directives had been issued for the removal of dumps of construction material on the roads and plugging of chocked gutter lines, saying that earlier the drains were flooded during the rains and affected normal life.

The TMO appealed to the people to avoid throwing wastes in manholes and sewerage lines.

He also issued directives to the concerned authorities to make all-out efforts to improve the sanitary conditions.
