Karachi Region triumph

QUETTA, July 20: Karachi Region defeated Quetta Region by 72 runs in the opening match of the first triangular women cricket series at Nawab Akbar Khan Stadium on Wednesday.

Karachi, who batted first after winning the toss, made 143 for nine in 25 overs. Mariam Butt scored 28 and Sabina Saeed 24.

Quetta got off to a shaky start losing two early wickets before Nahid Khan lifted her team with a knock of 35. But once she was gone, Quetta crashed to 71 all out.

Kiran claimed three for 19.

Sabina was declared Woman-of-the-Match.

Karachi next play Lahore in the second match of the series on Thursday.
