KHAIRPUR, July 20: A-section police arrested three employees of postal services, Azizullah Channa, assistant poster, Subhan mail sorter and Abdul Samad Soomro, mail peon, here on Wednesday. Two employees, Khaliqur Rehman Mastoi, cashier and Abdul Samad Memon, clerk of the general post office Khairpur were arrested by the police on Tuesday. The DSP City, Ali Mohammad Shahani and SHO A-section Akbar Channa were investigating the matter. It may be mentioned that the two post office employees had drawn Rs1 million from National Bank of Pakistan, Khairpur out of Baitul Mal fund on Tuesday and when they reached at the gate of general post office Khairpur, a group of armed men snatched the bag containing money and escaped.

According to police, there is likelihood of involvement of post office employees. DSP city told reporters on Wednesday that the police during checking the table drawer of the cashier Khaliqur Rehman Mastoi at GPO in the presence of post master recovered 39 counterfeit notes, each of five hundred and police were also investigating in this regard.

Clerk Abdul Samad Memon was suspended on negligence charges by the GPO administration. However, no case has so far been registered.

No office work was carried out on Wednesday at the GPO in Khairpur due to which people suffered a lot.

LOAD-SHEDDING: Persisting load-shedding in Khairpur and Luqman sub-divisions had made lives of citizens miserable. Electricity was disconnected on Tuesday evening at 6pm and was restored at 11pm in the night in entire Khairpur city. While electricity was disconnected at 5am and was restored at 10am on Wednesday in Luqman city feeder.

On the other hand, consumers from different mohallas took out procession led by Akbar Soomro here on Wednesday at civic centre chowk and raised slogans against Hesco.
