HYDERABAD, July 18: Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim has indicated that elections of taluka and district nazims may be held on party basis and said that parties in the ruling coalition will fully participate in the party-less local body polls. He said that he had reached seat adjustment accords with the MQM and the PML-F for Hyderabad district on Monday.
Talking to newsmen at the circuit house after holding talks with the MQM and PML-F leadership, he claimed that being the chief minister of the province he said the ‘privilege and authority’ to use government resources for discharging his duties.
However, he said, arrangements were yet to be finalized about some union councils. He would go to Tando Mohammad Khan, Jamshoro and Badin for talks on seats of union council nazims and naib nazims.
About the likelihood of elections for taluka and district nazims to be held on party basis, he said he had not yet seen a decision of the National Reconstruction Bureau in this regard. But, he said a decision to that effect had been taken “in a meeting with the NRB”.
He added that he did not face any difficulty in reaching seat-adjustment accords in the province as people were voluntarily joining the ruling party and drifting away from the PPP.
