SADIQABAD, July 12: A gang of eight dacoits has plundered cash and valuables worth hundreds of thousands of rupees in the district in the last two days. Reports said eight dacoits entered the house of Chaudhry Ali Ahmad, a grain market broker, held up the inmates and bagged Rs200,000 in cash and 48 tolas of gold ornaments. They also snatched cell phones of the family and had some fruits before leaving the house.
On Monday, the dacoits deprived a money changer of 350,000 in cash.
ARREST: The city police claimed on Tuesday that they had arrested the alleged killers of a girl after one month of the incident.
According to reports, policeman Muhammad Yousaf, Yasin and Abdul Razzaq had raped a girl and later poisoned her.
Meanwhile, a police contingent, led by ASP Pir Muhammad Shah, recovered counterfeit currency worth Rs150,000 and 250 grams of opium from a house in Ilyas Colony.
The police have arrested Amanullah and Ramzan.
