KARACHI, July 6: Around 50 delegates from India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka would attend the four-day international youth conference being organized here in the metropolis from July 17 to 21. The moot would be held under the auspices of a non-governmental organization, Azad Foundation, in collaboration with the Aalians International and with the support of the US State Department.
The announcement to this effect was made at a joint press conference, addressed by Syed Fahad Rizvi, Sarah Alam and Dr Farah Iqbal, here on Wednesday. Fredric W. Stern of the US Consulate General, Karachi, was also present on the occasion.
They said that 30 delegates from India, seven from Bangladesh and five from Sri Lanka will arrive here to attend the conference, which would serve as a platform to discuss and advocate global issues like peace especially between Pakistan and India and empowerment of youths and women.
A youth federation would also be formed at South Asian regional level.
Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad will perform the inauguration of the conference.
Fahad Rizvi said that youths were the future of any country and could play an important role towards the advancement and progress of their country.
Farah Iqbal said that they wanted to inculcate positive feelings among the youths in the South Asian region to live peacefully.
Sarah Alam said that a strategy would be chalked out at the moot for the development of South Asian region.
Speaking on the occasion, Fredric W. Stern lauded the efforts of the organizers of the conference. On behalf of the State Department, he announced a sum of US$10,000 towards meeting the expenses of the conference. —APP
