KARACHI: Manhandling of ministers: unknown men booked

KARACHI, June 27: The SITE police on Monday registered a case against unknown people for manhandling Minister of State on Religious Affairs Dr Amir Liaquat Hussain and Sindh Minister for Planning and Development Shoaib Bokhari. The two ministers had been manhandled when they visited the Jamia Binnoria, in SITE, on Friday to condole the death of two religious leaders.

According to witnesses, enraged youths smashed the windscreen of the ministers’ car and as they came out of the vehicle, they were subjected to slaps and blows by some of the youths.

Staff of the Jamia Binnoria came to their rescue and escorted them to a safer place. Their safe exit was made under heavy deployment of law enforcement agencies personnel.

The FIR No. 197/05 was registered under various sections, including 147, 148, 353 and 337-A of the PPC on the complainant lodged by SI Saleem Memon, in-charge of the squad of the state minister.
