Officials said Abbas spent the night working the phones to world leaders, including US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and Jordan's King Abdullah II after the summit in west Jerusalem. "Abu Mazen (Abbas) informed Dr Rice about the results from the summit" and discussed the "continuation of the American role in the peace process", said one source. Palestinian Prime Minister Ahmed Qorei said Sharon made no attempt to negotiate. "He rejected most of our demands that we drew up in respect of the settlements, the wall (Israel's West Bank separation barrier) and the return of Israeli forces to the their positions before the intifada." (Posted @ 17:37 PST) Two killed, 15 injured in violence in Indian occupied Kashmir SRINAGAR, June 22 (AFP) - Fifteen people were injured in a grenade attack while Indian troops shot dead two militants rebels near the LoC, officials said Wednesday.In Bijbehara town, 40 kilometers (25 miles) south of Srinagar, "militants hurled a grenade at a security patrol which missed the target and exploded among the pedestrians in the busy town." Three injured were in serious condition. Meanwhile, Indian troops late Tuesday shot dead two militants near the LoC. They were asked to surrender.Instead they opened fire, wounding an Indian security officer. "The fire was returned killing two infiltrators." Dozens of Kurdish gunmen in 25 civilian vehicles raided Abu Dalaf village near Dawr city Tuesday night and abducted Ali Faizi, 30, who is accused of involvement in the bombing of a police station in Arbil earlier this week in which 21 people were killed. "Robert Tarongoy is finally coming home," President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo said. Tarongoy was taken hostage on Nov. 1 along with a group of other foreign workers when militants stormed a Baghdad villa belonging to their Saudi employer. (Posted @ 15:48 PST) Russia says foiled two attacks on nuclear defences MOSCOW, June 22 (Reuters) - Russia's Defence Ministry has foiled two separate attempts to break into nuclear weapons installations, a general in charge of Russian atomic arms safety said on Wednesday. Colonel-General Igor Valynkin, quoted by Russian news agencies, said the two attempts were made in 2002 and 2003. The perpetrators were arrested and handed over to security services, he said. "This shows that we have good mobile divisions for the guarding and defence of nuclear installations," Itar-Tass quoted Valynkin as saying. He gave no further details on the two attempts.
