Maoist rebels raid Nepal town, seven killed KATHMANDU, June 20 (Reuters) - Hundreds of Maoist rebels stormed a town in the hills of eastern Nepal, broke into a jail, freed prisoners and bombed or set on fire government offices, the army said on Monday. Five policemen were killed and the bodies of two guerrillas recovered after the attack, which took place late on Sunday at Diktel in Khotang district, a rebel stronghold 400 km east of Kathmandu, an army officer said. Car bomb kills at least ten Iraqi police recruits ARBIL, Iraq, June 20 (Reuters) - A suicide car bomber blew up his vehicle among a crowd of Iraqi traffic police recruits in the northern Kurdish city of Arbil on Monday, killing at least 10 and wounding more than 100, local officials said. Muslim nations to seal trade pact by end-2005: OIC PUTRAJAYA, Malaysia, June 20 (Reuters) - Muslim countries plan to form a preferred trading bloc by end-2005 to help bridge a yawning gap between oil-rich and impoverished Islamic nations, the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC) said Monday."This is an important first step towards the larger goal of greater economic integration among the OIC countries," the group's chairman, Malaysian Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, told an OIC trade forum. Six guerrillas, one soldier killed in northeast India gun battles GUWAHATI, India, June 20 (AFP) - At least six separatist guerrillas from the outlawed United Liberation Front of Assam and a soldier were killed in gun battles in the Nalbari district, 70 kilometers west of Guwahati, officials said Monday. Soldiers later seized a stockpile of arms and ammunition, including several automatic rifles and pistols, hand grenades and explosives and detonators from the dead rebels, a military commander said. Two Iranian reformist newspapers banned TEHRAN, June 20 (AFP) - Two leading Iranian reformist newspapers, Eghbal and Aftab, were banned from appearing on Monday after publishing a letter from a defeated candidate, Mehdi Karoubi, alleging rigging in the first round of presidential elections, reformist sources said. Taliban execute seven Afghan policemen in southern Afghanistan KABUL (DPA) - Remnants of Taliban on Monday claimed to have executed seven Afghan police who had been taken prisoner four days ago in the southern province of Kandahar. Oil prices surge above 59 dollars in Asian trade SINGAPORE, June 20 (AFP) - World oil prices surged further into record high territory in Asian trading on Monday with the benchmark New York contract climbing past 59 dollars a barrel, dealers said. At 9:30 am (0130 GMT), New York's main contract, light sweet crude for July delivery, was at 59.00 dollars a barrel, up 53 cents from its all-time high closing price of 58.47 dollars in the United States on Friday.
