KARACHI: NFC issue to be settled soon: CM

KARACHI, June 12: Sindh Chief Minister Arbab Ghulam Rahim has said that the matters related to the National Finance Commission Award will be settled in the next few days Addressing the foundation stone laying ceremony of a mosque at Clifton on Sunday afternoon, the chief minister regretted that the opposition political parties and their leaders were attempting to blow the NFC issue out of proportion.

He also took strong exception to the criticism expressed by the opposition to the federal and provincial budgets maintaining that they were critical of every decision and step taken by the government while they were not reluctant to accept the privileges and allowances offered to them as public representatives.

Regarding the forthcoming local bodies elections, Arbab Rahim said the schedule for the polls would also be announced in near future.

Taking notice of complaints by the area residents regarding shortage of water and dilapidated state of roads in different blocks of Clifton, he directed the DCO Karachi to take measures and ensure redressal of public grievances.

Later, the chief minister visited Jamia Masjid Al-Kabir, adjacent to Artillery Police Station and also visited the Mazar of Miran Shah Bukhari and offered prayers there.
