KARACHI: Environmental problems

KARACHI, June 12: Sindh Minister for Women Development Dr Saeeda Malik has observed with great concern the threat caused to both human life and biodiversity due to environmental degradation — consequent to scarcity of natural resources.

Speaking at a national seminar on “Building liveable communities for the 21st century”, jointly organized by the Sindh Environmental Protection Agency and a local NGO, Foundation for Progress, she said indifferences towards the alarming environmental scenario had exposed the globe to a vicious cycle.

Referring to the theme of the event, the minister said it involved environment and the development of liveable communities which was not only important but at the same time pertains to critical sectors for national progress.

“Due to dangerous breakdown in environmental equilibrium there is a wide gap in urban and rural areas,” she said.—APP
