Duty on vaccines reduced

ISLAMABAD, June 8: The government has reduced customs duty from 10 per cent to 5 per cent on import of 10 types of vaccines and medicines. The reduction in rates was notified through a budgetary notification of 2005-06 to reduce the cost of the proposed vaccines in the local market.

The customs duties slashed to 5 per cent from 10 per cent on glands and other organs, dried, whether or not powdered (3001.1000); extracts of glands or other organs or of their secretion (3001.2000); other (3001.9000); tetanus toxide (3002.2010); for prevention of hepatitis-B (3002.2020); human blood (3002.9010); animal blood (3002.9020); cod liver oil (3004.5010).

The import duty has been reduced to 10 per cent from 20 per cent on import of acrynol pad (3005.9010) and other (3006.1090).
