HYDERABAD, June 1: The City Taluka Council has warned the Sindh government that councillors will resort to extreme steps if it does not replace the taluka municipal officer in 48 hours. The councillors held a meeting under the chairmanship of City Nazim Moinuddin Shaikh at his office on Wednesday.
The meeting expressed concern over what it called indifferent attitude of the government on the issue.
The councillors said the City nazim, council and the CBA union were not satisfied with the officer but the Sindh government was insisting on retaining him as the TMO.
They demanded that the government should take the matter seriously and post a competent officer at the council.
Meanwhile, City Taluka Municipal Staff Union (CBA) president Ghulam Mohammad Qureshi, general secretary Akram Rajput, deputy general secretary Kishan Ganga Hari and other office-bearers said work of the taluka had collapsed due to the ongoing tussle between the City nazim and the TMO.
In a joint statement issued here on Wednesday, they said salary bills of employees were lying unsigned which had created unrest among employees.
They warned that if the TMO was not removed, all the work would be suspended for which the TMO and higher authorities would be responsible.
